not of primary importance for the 2 posts in my despatch 2 No.479 but initial stagespf salary scale are only suitable
for Junior Officers and are inadequate for maintenance of
married man with families to local standard for such officers.
Moreover I do not consider that the Colony should be asked
to incur passage liabilities for families especially as posts
in question are to be temporary.
As regards Bond request permission to offer hâm
temporary engagement at a salary of dollars750 per month
without allowances minimum period of 3 months pending

sanction for his definitive appointment or arrival of
alternative candidate, otherwise impossible to complete
preliminary work on certain important items of building
programme in time for building to commence before the next
rainy season,
